Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Coastal Electric ("we", "us", "our") sells genuine Panasonic split system air conditioners direct to the public, and offers licensed installation — carried out by our own in-house technicians — as an optional add-on. This policy explains what personal information we collect through coastalelectric.com.au, how we use it, and who we share it with.

2. What we collect

When you place an order or contact us, we collect:

  • Name, email address, phone number, delivery address and postcode
  • Any delivery instructions you add at checkout, and whether you've given the courier authority to leave your delivery unattended
  • Order details — items purchased, and, if you've added an Installation Package, your property type (single-level house, multi-storey house or apartment)
  • Payment is handled entirely by our payment processor, Stripe — we never see or store your card details

3. How we use it, and who we share it with

We use your information to process your order, arrange delivery, and — if you've added an Installation Package — prepare a quotation and contact you to book. We share it with:

  • Stripe — to process payment for your AC unit(s)
  • HubSpot — our customer relationship management system
  • Xero — our accounting/invoicing system
  • Google Analytics — to understand how the site is used. We send Google the fact that an order completed, its value, and the items in it, so we can tell which parts of the site lead to sales. We do not send your name, email address, phone number or delivery address.
  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram) — to measure how well our advertising works and to show our ads to people who have visited this site. We send Meta the fact that a page was viewed, a sizing tool was used, or an order completed, along with a technical identifier for your browser. Where we send contact details we have collected from you, they are converted into an irreversible code before they leave our systems, so Meta cannot read them.
  • Our supplier and licensed installation partners, as needed to fulfil your order

Your details are held only in a short-lived checkout session on our own systems while your order is being processed — HubSpot and Xero are our ongoing systems of record for customer and order data, not a database on this website.

4. Cookies and local storage

Your shopping cart (which items and quantities you've added) is stored in your own browser's local storage, not on our servers. It's only used to remember your cart between pages and isn't shared with anyone.

We use Google Analytics to see how people find and use this site — for example, how many visitors use the Find Your AC sizing tool, and how many go on to order. This sets cookies in your browser that give it an anonymous identifier. It tells us things like which page you arrived from, which pages you viewed and roughly where in the country you are; it does not tell us who you are.

We use the Meta pixel to see which of our Facebook and Instagram ads bring people to this site. It sets a cookie that gives your browser an anonymous identifier. You can turn ad personalisation off in your Facebook or Instagram settings, and any browser setting or extension that blocks advertising trackers will block ours. Nothing on this site behaves differently if you do.

If you'd rather not be counted, Google publishes an opt-out add-on for most browsers at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, and any browser setting or extension that blocks analytics will block ours. Nothing on this site behaves differently if you do — the cart, checkout and every other feature work exactly the same.
