1. About Coastal Electric
Coastal Electric ("we", "us") ABN 50 155 213 362 sells genuine Panasonic split system air conditioners at trade pricing, and installs them across Brisbane with our own licensed people. There are two ways to buy from this website: a supply and install job (section 2), or a unit on its own (section 4). By placing an order through coastalelectric.com.au you agree to these terms.
2. Supply and install orders
The price shown against each model is the unit and a standard installation, inc GST. Nothing is charged on this website for an installed job. You pick the model and a day that suits, and send us the job. The day you pick is held for you until we speak.
We then ring you to go through the job and confirm the day. On that call we take payment for the unit, which confirms the booking. The installation itself is invoiced after the work is finished, not before. We install one job a day on weekdays, and we need five business days to get your unit in, so the earliest day you can pick is five business days out.
All installation work is carried out by a licensed electrician and an ARCtick-licensed refrigeration technician — electrical work and refrigerant handling must be done by licensed people by law.
3. What a standard installation covers, and what happens if your job isn't standard
A standard installation is a single-level installation with no more than 5 metres of pipework between the indoor and outdoor unit, and reasonable access to the installation area and to your switchboard. Multi-storey houses and apartments carry a $100 per unit access fee, shown before you send the job; that fee covers access only.
Some jobs need more than that, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise. Longer pipe runs, roof or ceiling-space runs, height access, a new circuit or switchboard work all take extra time and materials. On units of 5 kW and above, a new circuit to your switchboard is often needed.
Nothing extra is ever added on the day without your say-so. If your job needs work beyond a standard installation, we tell you what it is and what it costs, and you agree it with us before any work starts. If you would rather not go ahead, the installation doesn't proceed: the unit you have paid for is yours, and we don't invoice you for installation work we haven't done.
4. Unit-only orders
If you have your own installer, you can buy the unit on its own. Unit-only orders are paid at checkout, processed securely by Stripe. Delivery inside the Brisbane metro area (postcodes 4000–4179) is $50 for one unit and free for two or more. We don't take unit-only orders outside that area through the website — call us on 1300 267 156 and we'll sort out freight with you.
A split system has to be installed by a licensed electrician and an ARCtick-licensed refrigeration technician. That's the law, not our policy, and nothing in this section affects your rights under the Australian Consumer Law or your Panasonic warranty.
5. Delivery
On a supply and install job we bring the unit with us on the day. On a unit-only order we deliver to the address you give at checkout and let you know the day before with an estimated time. Delivery timeframes are estimates and can move with stock availability and freight.
6. Cancellations, changes and returns
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Ring us as soon as you can if you need to cancel or change anything. If you need to move an installation day, tell us before the day and we'll find you another one. On a unit-only order, units already dispatched may be subject to return freight costs.
7. Warranty
Our installation workmanship is warranted for five years, and the unit carries Panasonic's own warranty. If something goes wrong with a unit we sold you, come to us first — we handle it and deal with Panasonic ourselves. The detail is in our Warranty Policy.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Coastal Electric's liability for any claim arising from your order is limited to the amount you paid for the relevant AC unit or installation service. This doesn't affect any consumer guarantee that can't be excluded under Australian law.
9. Trade credit accounts
This section applies only to customers who have been approved for a Coastal Electric trade credit account. It's in addition to the sections above, which continue to apply to trade credit orders as well.
Approved trade credit accounts are opened with a starting credit limit of $5,000 and payment terms of 21 days from the date of invoice. Extending credit is conditional on a director of the applicant business personally agreeing to act as guarantor for the account — that guarantee is a condition of the account being opened and remains in place while the account is open.
Invoices not paid in full within the 21-day term are overdue. Overdue accounts are charged interest at 5% per annum on the outstanding balance, calculated daily from the invoice due date until paid, plus a $125 administration fee per overdue invoice.
If we refer an overdue account for debt recovery or engage a solicitor to commence or conduct legal proceedings to recover an outstanding balance, all costs we reasonably incur in doing so — including debt collection agency fees, solicitor's fees, and court or tribunal filing costs — are payable by the trade account holder or, where the account holder is a company, by the guarantor, in addition to the outstanding balance, interest and administration fees above.

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
